Specialised Welding
Qualified welders for structural, pipe and stainless work on site across WA or in our Henderson workshop.
Specialised Welding Services Across Perth and Western Australia.
Welding is the thread that runs through almost everything IPC Maintenance does and sometimes it is the whole job. Cracked structural members, worn wear plates, leaking pipe spools, failed brackets and modifications to existing plant all need a qualified welder who can work to a procedure, on a live site, and produce a weld that passes inspection.
Our boilermaker-welders are qualified to the relevant AS/NZS 1554 procedures for structural carbon and stainless steel, and to pressure-equipment requirements where the scope calls for it. We weld on site with mobile plant or in our Henderson workshop, with hot-work permits, fire watch and fume controls built into every task.
The Problems We Solve
We solve critical welding and fabrication challenges with qualified procedures, specialist materials, controlled hot work, and inspection ready weld records.
Structural cracks & fatigue failures that need repair to an approved procedure, not a quick patch.
Welders on site who aren't properly qualified to meet the specific procedure the job requires.
Stainless, duplex or dissimilar-metal work that general fabricators lack the specialist expertise to handle.
Hot work on hazardous-area sites where permit, fire-watch and gas-testing is non-negotiable.
Welds that fail inspection because no one managed preheat, consumables or weld records.
What We Do / What's Included
We deliver certified structural, stainless and pressure welding, hardfacing, mobile site work, qualified procedures, weld records and NDT coordination.
- Structural steel welding repairs and modifications to AS/NZS 1554.1 (GP and SP categories).
- Stainless steel welding to AS/NZS 1554.6, including purged TIG for pipe and tanks.
- Pressure piping and pressure-equipment welding to qualified procedures.
- Hardfacing and wear-plate welding for chutes, hoppers and bulk-handling equipment.
- Mobile welding units for site work, including at height and in confined spaces with our own access crews.
- MIG, TIG, MMAW (stick) and FCAW processes.
- Weld procedure specifications (WPS), welder qualification records, weld maps and ITPs.
- Coordination of NDT-visual, MPI, dye-penetrant, ultrasonic and radiography-through accredited inspectors.
Australian Standards & Policies We Align With
Our welding is carried out within Australia’s structural and pressure welding framework:
AS/NZS 1554.1 (Structural steel welding)
General-purpose (GP) and special-purpose (SP) weld categories; AS/NZS 1554.6 for stainless steel.
AS 1674.1 & AS 1674.2 (Safety in welding and allied processes — fire precautions; electrical)
Hot-work and electrical safety.
AS/NZS ISO 9606-1 (Qualification testing of welders - steels) and AS/NZS ISO 15614-1
Welder and procedure qualification.
Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) & WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA)
Welding fume exposure standard, confined-space entry and hazardous-area hot work.
AS 4041 (Pressure piping) and AS/NZS 3992 (Pressure equipment - welding and brazing qualification)
Where pressure work is in scope.
Client hot-work permit systems
Gas testing, fire watch and isolation requirements on LPG/LNG, chemical and port sites.
AS 4100 (Steel structures) and AS/NZS 5131
Design and fabrication requirements governing structural repairs.
ISO 9001 quality system
WPS, welder records and inspection test plans retained for every job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers about our welding services, including qualified welders, specialist alloys, site work, NDT, repairs, safety, and documentation.
A welder who has passed a qualification test to a recognised standard (such as AS/NZS ISO 9606-1 or AS/NZS 1554) for a specific process, material and position and whose welds are made to an approved weld procedure.
Both. Mobile units cover site repairs and modifications; the Henderson workshop handles controlled work and anything better done off-site.
Yes-stainless to AS/NZS 1554.6 is routine.
Where in scope, pipe welding is carried out to qualified procedures under AS 4041.
Under the site's permit-to-work: gas testing, isolation confirmation, fire watch, spark containment and post-work monitoring, with our own SWMS layered on top.
Yes-with our own scaffold, rope access and confined-space-trained crews, fume extraction and rescue plans.
We visually inspect every weld and coordinate MPI, dye-penetrant, ultrasonic or radiographic testing through accredited NDT providers when the specification calls for it.
Yes-crack arrest, gouge-out and re-weld to an engineered repair procedure, with NDT verification.
Yes-WPS, welder qualification records, consumable certificates, weld maps and inspection test plans on request.
