Painting & Protective Coatings

Industrial painting and protective coatings that stop corrosion and extend asset life across Perth and Western Australia.

Industrial Painting and Protective Coatings Across Perth and Western Australia

WA’s coastal and industrial environments are brutal on steel salt air at Kwinana and the ports, chemical exposure on process plants, abrasion in bulk handling. A correctly specified and applied coating system is the cheapest insurance an asset can have.

IPC Maintenance’s coatings applicators apply multi-coat epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich, glass-flake and specialist systems to structural steel, tanks, pipework, plant and fabricated items on site or in our Henderson facility with environmental conditions, film thickness and cure monitored and recorded at every stage. Combined with our own blasting, scaffold and rope access, it means a complete corrosion-protection scope from one contractor.

The Problems We Solve

We tackle surface preparation challenges, ensuring safe removal, thorough cleaning, controlled blasting, corrosion removal, and site-ready finishes.

Premature coating breakdown from the wrong system, poor preparation or application outside spec.

Corrosion eating into structures, tanks and pipe supports on coastal and chemical sites.

Repaint scopes needing scaffold, blasting and coatings from three different contractors.

No coating records so no way to warrant the work or plan the next maintenance cycle.

Coatings jobs on live plant with nobody managing overspray, solvents and waste.

What We Do / What's Included

Comprehensive protective coating solutions, from specification and application to inspection and documentation, ensuring durable, compliant protection for industrial assets.

Australian Standards & Policies We Align With

Protective coating work is specified, applied and inspected within Australia’s corrosion-protection framework:
AS/NZS 2312.1 (Guide to the protection of structural steel against atmospheric corrosion paint coatings)
System selection by corrosivity category.
AS 1627 series
Surface preparation before coating (see Blasting & Cleaning).
AS 4312 (Atmospheric corrosivity zones in Australia)
Categorising the service environment (C3–CX) for WA coastal and industrial sites.
APAS (Australian Paint Approval Scheme)
Approved products used where specified.
ISO 12944 series
Where client specifications call for it.
Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 (WA)
Azardous chemicals, spray-painting and confined-space requirements; Code of Practice: Spray painting and powder coating.
AS 3894 series (Site testing of protective coatings)
Dry film thickness, holiday detection, adhesion and environmental testing.
Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA) and our ISO 14001 environmental system
solvent, overspray and waste management
Coatings inspection by qualified personnel

Frequently Asked Questions

Get clear answers about our abrasive blasting, surface preparation, coating, waste management and specialised industrial services.
Epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers, glass-flake and high-build systems from the major manufacturers, matched to the specification.
From the service environment using AS 4312 corrosivity categories and AS/NZS 2312.1 plus the asset's expected life and maintenance access.
Yes - blasting and coating are scheduled as one operation by IPC crews, so the substrate is coated before flash rusting occurs.
Yes, with overspray containment, solvent and ignition-source controls under the site permit system.
Often our rope access technicians handle spot repairs and repaints on stacks, silos, ship loaders and conveyor gantries.
Yes - ambient conditions, surface temperature, dew point, WFT/DFT and holiday testing are recorded to AS 3894 on an ITP you receive.
Yes - we provide tank and bund lining solutions using durable, chemical-resistant coating systems selected for the contents, service conditions and required protection.
It depends on the system, preparation and environment a correctly applied C4/C5 system can deliver 15–25 years to first major maintenance under AS/NZS 2312.1 durability ranges. We never promise a figure without seeing the asset.
Yes - warranty terms are available based on the coating system, surface preparation, application requirements and project conditions, and are confirmed with each quotation.
