BLASTING & CLEANING
Abrasive blasting, surface preparation and industrial cleaning for steelwork, tanks and plant across Western Australia.
Abrasive Blasting and Industrial Cleaning Across Perth and Western Australia
A protective coating is only as good as the surface under it which is why blasting is a trade in its own right, not a step to rush. IPC Maintenance blasts structural steel, tanks, vessels, pipework, fabricated items and concrete to the cleanliness and profile the coating specification demands, using garnet and other approved abrasives (never silica sand).
We also provide the industrial cleaning that maintenance depends on: high-pressure water blasting, degreasing, scale and product removal, and clean-up of plant ahead of inspection or shutdown. Work is done in our Henderson facility or on your site with containment, dust and waste controls.
The Problems We Solve
Coatings failing early because the substrate was never cleaned to the specified standard.
Old lead-based or unknown paint systems that need to be removed safely and legally.
Product build-up, scale and corrosion hiding the true condition of tanks, chutes and structures.
Blasting on a live site without dust, noise or waste controls that satisfy the environment team.
Fabricated items arriving on site unblasted and unprimed, delaying installation.
What We Do / What's Included
Protective coating work is specified, applied and inspected within Australia’s corrosion-protection framework.
- Abrasive blasting of structural steel, plate, pipework, tanks and fabricated items to the specified cleanliness (e.g. Sa 2½) and profile.
- Garnet, glass bead and soda blasting.
- High-pressure and ultra-high-pressure water blasting for cleaning and coating removal.
- Removal of lead-based and hazardous coatings under controlled conditions.
- Industrial cleaning degreasing, product and scale removal, tank and bin clean-outs
- Containment, dust suppression, spent-abrasive recovery and waste disposal.
- Surface testing profile, soluble salts and cleanliness checks before coating.
- Priming and holding primer application immediately after blast (with our coatings team).

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Silica sand is prohibited for abrasive blasting in WA. We use garnet and other approved abrasives matched to the substrate and specification.
It's the "near-white metal" cleanliness grade under ISO 8501-1 the most commonly specified standard for industrial protective coatings. We blast to the grade your specification requires and verify it before coating.
Yes, with containment, dust suppression and abrasive recovery. Some work is better done in our Henderson facility; we'll advise which.
Quickly typically within hours, before flash rusting. Because our coatings team is in-house, blast and prime are scheduled as one operation.
Recovered, classified and disposed of as controlled waste through licensed facilities under our ISO 14001 system.
